Budget savings discussed by school board
|
The NBAPS school board conducted a work session on June 28, 2012 at 7 p.m. in room 126 of the North Branch Area Education Center. Items from the upcoming July 12 business meeting were reviewed. Here is a podcast of the meeting: Budget savings: The school board discussed the savings realized by the school district as a result of the settlement with the North Branch Education Association, and the recommendation of administration to save the money to offset next year's projected deficit of $2.3 million. Administration was directed to present options for using the money in the upcoming school year at the July school board business meeting. Attendance policy: The school board considered the recommendation of the policy committee to create a policy review committee comprised of stakeholders to review the attendance policy starting next fall. Employee compensation report: A presentation on pay equity at NBAPS was given the school board. That presentation is available as part of the school board packet and suggests that the school district is becoming less competitive in the job market.
